Description

  About the course:

What does it take to be a great river leader? The last several years we have been asked if we would offer our own solution to professional river leadership training. We use an ACA Level IV Whitewater Instructor Certification as a starting point and extend it further to encompass a look into what it is to be a leader in leadership skills, all while you develop your portfolio of skills onward and upward to class V.

H2o Dreams uses this 9-day course as their base level training for all of their instructors. If you want to become an H2o Dreams instructor, this is how you start.

Potential benefits if specific criteria met:

  • ACA Level-IV Whitewater Instructor Certification
  • ASHI Wilderness First Aid Certification
  • Common Sense Rescue Completion Certificate
  • H2o Dreams employment opportunities

*Course registration does not guarantee a certification. Each candidate must meet all criteria as outlined by the ACA. There are no refunds in the case of not meeting these requirements. If you have questions as to whether this class is a fit for you read this or give us a call!

If your looking to increase your skills, knowledge, and abilities, Apex is the school for you. The depth and breadth of information is unreal, while the supplied Apex handouts are a great take home for review. If your looking to attain your ACA IV, along with a better understanding of play boating, creeking, and slalom boating and how they can cross pollinate to make you a better boater and teacher, this class is for you. The information received in this class is well worth the cost, and beyond.

This was my 10th ACA Instructor Development Workshop (5th for whitewater kayaking). Each IT has their own style, their own pet peeves, and their own way of delivering information. Chris really understands the science and physics behind whitewater kayaking. This comes from years in the industry, working in R&D, competition and a continual pursuit to become a better paddler — and a better instructor. His knowledge isn’t limited to theory, though, especially in wilderness medicine or swiftwater rescue. It comes from experience in the field.

There are a lot of top-performing paddlers, and quality instructors. It’s not often you find someone who excels at both. Chris is among the best of the best.
