About the course:
Uncover a whole new realm of comfort with the roll. Learning to right yourself without ejecting from the kayak is the quintessential skill in all of paddling; it allows you to conserve energy, discover more of the water, and have more fun! Spend this class getting comfortable and oriented upside down while gaining exposure and understanding of fundamental roll mechanics.
Students can expect to spend time upside down (inverted) in kayaks and while working towards mastery, leave with enough base knowledge and homework drills to continue your progression. We never exceed a 3:1 student to instructor ratio.
Prerequisite skill:
- Ages 14 and up
- Students under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a legal guardian
- Be in good health and overall fitness
- Comfort in open water and swimming required
- Experience at Fundamental level or the equivalent skill
- Ability to wet-exit and experience with a combat wet-exit

Adding the Roll to your tool kits, will take away that nasty fear factor follows most Class ll boater…. Am on last clinic from finally starting to have a repeatable…

I took up kayaking when I retired at the age of 68. I’ve slowly moved into enjoying minor white water and would like to move up to Class III. I knew I needed a roll and on Alberto Toledo’s recommendation I’ve now taken three lessons from Daniel Lassiter. Daniel is a superb instructor for older folks ( he is probably a fantastic instructor for younger folks as well, but I wouldn’t know about that). Daniel has the ability to take a problem area and break it down into manageable parts. Anyone that can teach a 71 year old guy like me to have a repeatable pool roll deserves all the kudos he can get. Now I will take my pool roll to the river this spring. Wish me luck!
